Overview

Century Sun is currently seeking a new team member in our Metallurgy Lab. The person in this position follows lab quality control procedures to verify that parts meet specifications such as hardness, assists in failure analysis and maintains lab records.

 

The ideal Met Lab Technician candidate will:

Responsibilities

A Met Lab Technician will be expected to:

  • Set up, Operate and Verify Hardness testers including Rockwell testers.
  • Maintain and retrieve records for Met Lab projects
  • Assist in failure analysis using abrasive cut off saws and band saws
  • Use Metallographic preparation equipment including: operation of mounting presses, developing polishing techniques, use of microscopes and stereo scopes
  • Follow Met Lab quality control procedures in Nitriding and Carburizing
  • Provide Met Lab support
  • Operate a Fork Lift (currently licensed or able to become licensed)

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience    

 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)                               

Language Skills                                             

 

Ability to read and interpret general communications.  Ability to write business correspondence and effectively present information to managers and co-workers. Ability to maintain accurate laboratory records and log books and communicate between shifts. Effectively use phone and paging systems.

 

Mathematical Skills   

 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.                                        

                       

Computer Skills

 

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including word and excel. Ability and willingness to learn job-specific computer software programs such as Visual Shop and Salesforce as required.

 

Other Skills and Abilities  

 

  • Understand and use Met Lab filing system
  • Provide input on expenditures
  • Monitor and assist in ordering Met Lab supplies
  • Operate magna flux equipment
  • Prepare samples for chemical analysis
  • Understand certification requirements for die cast dies
  • Perform crack penetrant tests
  • Perform grinding: Blanchard, Surface, Tub, etc.
  • Operate band saw, abrasive cut off saws
  • Machining skills including drill presses, mills, etc.
  • Operate digital camera
  • Make sketches by hand
  • Operate fork lift properly
